I have employed the effect various chemicals have on the body and the inflammatory effects that can result from the irritation. Using mixed media demonstrates the many layers and the depth of damage left by various diseases. The background is not immune to the constant changes happening on the surface. The colors applied vary depending on each subject matter, chemical reaction and emotional connection. They construct a degree of intensity showing emotive combinations of personality, reaction and distress. The pouring, layering and scrubbing on the surface manipulates the mixed media making it engaging to figure out what is being used. Although each piece may not be the same; they are connected by an exploration of formal concerns and the subject matter itself.
